Girard Lake Park Restoration Project

The Girard Lake Park Restoration Project will conduct and complete natural resources restoration activities on approximately 12 acres within Girard Lake Park. The nature of the site is hillside and wetland edge, focused on reestablishment of an oak savannah and native wetland edge.

Restoration activities include: removal of buckthorn and other invasive/undesirable plants, thinning of overly prolific trees, seeding of native grasses, forbs, and sedges, as well as native shrubs (e.g hazelnut), native vegetation establishment activities (e.g. winter seed sowing (multiple seed rains, starting with grasses, followed by dense swath of seeding forbs, mowings, and overseeding), and native site maintenance (e.g. biomass harvesting and weed control).
